From Educational to Fun: GWIB Events in Mod 4

Mod 4 has been busy for everyone, but GWIB members had an even busier schedule, with chances t o attend multiple events that empower and enrich their business experience.

"It's been quite a Mod for GWIB. It began with our extraordinarily successful membership drive in March,

and ended with four events ranging from a strategy session to golf lessons," said Monica Zwick Zeitlin (MBA '09).

"Next year will be just as active - we're committed to providing members with as many diverse opportunities as possible."

After a successful membership drive that included new members from the Evening Program and a number of men, GWIB kicked off Mod 4 with a trip to the Kennedy Center to enjoy the music of Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead.

With that great start, it seemed only right that a series of activities in early April should be dubbed GWIB week.

This started with "Strategy 101," a visit from MSB alum and former GWIB President, Julie Kang. After working in the corporate world since graduation in 2006, Julie has taken the ultimate leap of faith and started her own company - Heels Connect. The strategy session was a chance to discuss issues faced

by women in business while also providing insightful tips for 1st years embarking on their summer internships.

After a successful strat session, it was time for "Hello-Goodbye" to bid our graduating members adieu.

Students spent the evening at Mie-n-Yu wishing 2nd years the best and had a drink to toast them on their way.

The week concluded with "Golf It Up," lessons at the Capital City Golf School in DC. Luckily the weather held out, as the group enjoyed learning from the pros and improving their swings.

Phew, as you can see there have been many successful GWIB events this mod - from educational to fun. Thank you to all GWIB members for making this year successful - we look forward to more of the same next year!
